I haven’t written much about this on here before, but I have always known that I wanted to be an entrepreneur. I love finding new ideas to solve problems that I find around me and being in charge of my own time is very important to me.
When I was younger, I once bought some makeup on eBay and sold it to some of my friends at school. I also tried to setup a website (Not one that I would add to my portfolio..) but it was still a very interesting experience and, I think, what actually made me want to be an entrepreneur and start my own business(es).
About 5 years ago I started working online as a freelance translator (on Odesk which is now Upwork). I really liked being able to schedule my own work and work from home, but I also quickly discovered the challenges of working from home. I find it very hard to work efficiently, when I’m at home because I’m often distracted by something else. Especially if I’m working on something that I’m not particularly motivated to do. However, once I started to teach myself html and css – I could spend entire days with my head burrowed in the screen.
My take away from that was to always work with things that you’re interested in. However, I do know that that’s not always possible and sometimes you have to be able to motivate yourself. I do that by creating “to-do-lists” with specific deadlines. It sounds so simple, and it is! I don’t understand why, but as soon as I write down the individual tasks, my head clears and I stop thinking about everything at once and I can then focus on one task at a time.
Side note: This also works wonders if I can’t sleep at night because of too many thoughts in my head. As soon as I write them down, I can relax.
Almost two years ago I started this blog: DIYDenmark, where I write about DIYs (hence the name). Later on, when my partner and I went to Australia – I started to write about travelling as well – which I’m leaning towards doing more of in the future. Besides the blog, I’m studying a masters in engineering at SDU in Denmark with only a year left! The subject I have chosen is focused on Technology Entrepreneurship and Business Development – which perfectly matches my current startup adventure:
A little over a year ago, my dad came to me and asked if I wanted to be a part of a new startup called: trendlog.io. Through my engineering studies I have gained knowledge about product development and business strategies, which I can utilize in the startup. Aside from that, I get to work with my dad and brother, which is great (although sometimes challenging..)
The startup revolves around our cloud-based data logging solution – “Data on the go”. At the moment, our customers are production and manufacturing companies that want to monitor production numbers, up- and down times, consumption etc. If you’re interested, you can read more about it on our website: http://www.trendlog.io.
It’s very exciting, working on a new product and creating the foundation for a (hopefully) successful company. All my time at the moment is focused on this task while also trying to balance my blog, studies and of course my home life.

I’ll keep you updated on our progress – probably mostly for my own sake – but still 🙂
