This is for everyone who wants to be able to get more out of their online shopping and save money online. If you’re like me and love shopping on line even if it’s just once in a while or all the time, you’d probably not complain too much about saving a little extra when you do shop. I’ve found that if you’re just a little smart about your online shopping – you can actually save quite a lot of money on your online shopping.
1. Sign Up for Newsletters
One very simple way to save money online is to ensure that you get offers directly to your e-mail by signing up for newsletters on the websites that carry the products that you are interested in (fashion, tech, beauty etc.) These online stores offer a discount just for signing up for their newsletter:
2. Student Discounts – Sign Up for MyUnidays
MyUnidays is a really great site for students to get good discounts and save money online. Once you sign up using your student email (you have to be a student), you can login and see all the discounts. I have used it many times and always check it before making any online purchase.
Brands that are on MyUnidays.com (different from country to country):
Asos (where you can ALSO get cashback using both Cashrewards and Ebates + bonus for signing up using both links = 10% discount + 6% cashback + $15 signup bonus)
Microsoft Store (+ Ebates and Cashrewards cashback + $15 signup bonus)
Samsung (+ Ebates cashback + $10 signup bonus)
Apple (+ Ebates cashback + $10 signup bonus)
3. Sign Up for Cashback Websites (My favorite tip)
An easy and very quick way to save a lot of money online is to utilize cashback websites. Basically, you activate a shopping trip through the cashback website or a chrome extension and then just shop as you normally would. After finishing your online shopping, the cashback websites will automatically transfer the cashback money to your cashback account. And then you can freely transfer it to your own account. There are several websites that offer cashback on your online purchases. I use:
Ebates (Get $10 when you spend $25 through this link)
Cashrewards (you get $10 after your first purchase using this link)
My current favorite is: Cashrewards. They also offer a Chrome-extension to notify you any time you’re on a website, where they have cashback deals. I primarily use Cashrewards when I’m booking hotels through Booking.com, where they offer 6% cashback + $10 if you sign up using this link (affiliate link). Check out my post on how to save money on travel here.
4. Buy through deal sites
Always, do a little research before purchasing something. I use deal sites such as Groupon (where you get cashback from Ebates as well) to save money on my online shopping. The amount of emails they send can be a bit overwhelming, but oftentimes you can select to get fewer emails – otherwise you’ll end up deleting them without reading them.
5. Combine steps and save money online!
In order to save the most on your purchase, look for combining all the above steps.
The trickiest part of this is to remember to look for savings. Turn it in to a habitat to check the above steps every time you look to buy stuff online. These savings are not just for clothes or hardware etc. but for flights and hotels as well. Save money on online shopping and spend it on traveling instead! See my post on how to travel cheap!
